Key Points

  • ExtraMile Convenience Stores partners with Moore Oil Co. to convert over 20 stores in Alabama, significantly expanding its presence in the state.
  • The move is part of ExtraMile's broader strategy to nearly double its national footprint to approximately 2,000 stores by 2029.
  • The conversion of existing Chevron Food Marts is scheduled to begin in early 2026 and is expected to be completed by 2027.

ExtraMile Convenience Stores is pushing deeper into the U.S. Southeast, partnering with Moore Oil Co. to overhaul more than 20 of its convenience stores in the Birmingham, Alabama, area. The move boosts the brand's footprint in a market where it previously had only a single location.

  • Growth by the gallon: The project will convert existing Chevron Food Marts to the ExtraMile banner, with work kicking off in early 2026 and slated to wrap by 2027. The push is part of the Chevron and Jacksons Food Stores joint venture's effort to nearly double its national footprint to around 2,000 stores by 2029.

  • Familiar faces: For the expansion, ExtraMile is leaning on a long-standing relationship with Moore Oil, a century-old company that is Chevron’s largest branded fuel marketer in Alabama. "ExtraMile is excited to expand our brand in Alabama—and even more so with a trusted franchisee like Moore Oil that has been delivering for customers for more than 100 years,” said Brad Wolford, ExtraMile’s General Manager of Sales.

The move is a familiar playbook in the convenience store industry, where giants like Maverik and Oxxo have also used large-scale rebrands to push into new territories.
